We are really delighted with the line-up of top quality Medieval Re-enactors that we have managed so far to attract to the first Ruthin Medieval Festival!

They include:

The Marcher Freemen

Local to Ruthin, with excellent Living History Camps with craft demonstrations and a resident Surgeon.

The Order of Fighting Knights

This group from Sheffield has some of the very finest swordsmen among its membership, including Lord Hugh Despenser and Sir Edward of Rochester.  And many very good looking ladies, as you’d expect in such exalted noble company!! The OFK will stage a Tournament A Plaisance each day, with guests from the other assembled groups. NB - Don’t mess with Lady Despencer!

The Montgomery Levy

The Re-enactment arm of the Bryn Mawr Heritage Trust

The Freemen of Gwent

Small but perfectly formed! And armed with a working Ballista, and a “have a go miniature trebuchet firing range!”

God’s Company of Tabor

The Hussites! Heilige blut !  Gott  mitt Uns!!

God’s Company of Tabor—a raggedy-arsed bunch of heretical mercenaries trying to scrape a living here after their failed uprising against the Teutonic Knights. Not one for the faint hearted—have a good pomander handy, and watch out for dirty tricks and overly strong alcoholic beverages. Best try and be on the same side when it comes to the battle…..and don’t be fooled by any shiny armour they may have on, it’s at best second-hand if you follow my drift!!!

Buckingham’s Retinue

Greatly respected re-enactment group, member of the War of the Roses Federation. And they have promised to bring their cannon…

Horses through History

Specialists in presenting authentic images of Horses and their role in our History, bringing Owain Gwyndr back to Ruthin!
